That’s why every year, the Annexation of Nicoya Costa Rica<\/strong> is a moment of profound reflection and joyful celebration, especially for our students. It\u2019s a day when we not only remember a pivotal historical event but also reinforce the values of national identity, community, and the blessings of our heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This significant historical event, which took place on July 25, 1824, saw the Partido de Nicoya voluntarily choose to join Costa Rica. This wasn’t a conquest but a decision rooted in shared values, economic prosperity, and cultural affinity, forever shaping the beautiful tapestry of our nation. It\u2019s a testament to the peaceful, democratic spirit that has long defined Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Legacy of Choice and Self-Determination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The story of the Annexation of Nicoya Costa Rica<\/strong> is a powerful lesson in self-determination. In the early 19th century, following Central America’s independence from Spain, the region of Nicoya found itself geographically and economically aligned with Costa Rica.
