Theme: “Transformados – La Identidad que lo Cambia Todo”
At Monterrey Christian School, we are thrilled to begin one of our most cherished traditions — our annual Christian Camps and Spiritual Retreats. These experiences serve as pivotal moments in the spiritual formation of our students, allowing them to step away from daily routines and immerse themselves in intentional moments of worship, reflection, and personal growth.
This year’s theme, “Transformados – La Identidad que lo Cambia Todo” (Transformed – The Identity That Changes Everything), invites students to rediscover the truth about who they are in Christ. Our biblical foundation will come from a comparative study of King Saul and King David, two men called by God but whose identities before Him led to vastly different outcomes.
🕊 What We’ll Be Exploring:
- The Origin of Identity: Identity is not something we create; it is something we receive. Students will learn that their worth, purpose, and direction are established by their Creator, not shaped by public opinion or personal performance.
- Saul: An Identity Shaped by Insecurity: Saul’s identity was defined by fear of man and a desire for human approval. His outward appearance and position could not hide his internal brokenness, which eventually led to his downfall.
- David: An Identity Rooted in God: Though imperfect, David’s heart was anchored in his relationship with the Lord. His identity was not in his victories, but in his humble, repentant, and obedient walk with God. As Scripture declares, David was “a man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14).
- Personal Reflection and Application: Through devotions, worship sessions, small group discussions, and personal journaling, our students will be challenged to ask: What is forming my identity? and Am I living for God’s approval or man’s applause?
🏕 Why This Matters
In a world increasingly confused about identity, our goal is to ground students in biblical truth. We want each young person to walk away from camp not only knowing that they are created in the image of God, but also understanding the responsibility and joy of living out that identity in Christ.
As always, these camps are also a time of bonding, fun, and community. From bonfires to team-building activities, unforgettable memories will be made — all anchored in the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
Let us pray that this time away will bear eternal fruit in the lives of our students. May God raise up a generation of young people whose identities are secure in Christ and who live boldly for His glory.
